29 and 30: Pigs make me lmno peas!

The first book is predictable; I love this author and wish I would have had these books as kids. But I’ll take them as an adult! The second one I saw on some kind of recommendation book list on the internet, and scooped it up when I saw it at the library. The illustrations are so cute I said, on the spot, “This is THE ALPHABET BOOK that everyone I know who will ever have a kid is going to get. PERIOD.” That is, of course, unless I write one, and then that baby will get two books. I dare someone to read these books and not smile. Double dog dare you to read the second one and not run out and read it to someone else, just to share its sheer awesomness. Yes, I just used awesomeness.

So, books 29 and 30 in Reading Journal are:
Pigs make me sneeze! By Mo Willems
and
LMNO Peas by Keith Baker

Pigs make me LMNOPeas!

Pigs:

  • How would you feel if you were allergic to your friend? To something that you really like to eat?
  • Act this book out. Well, acting out any book is pretty fun, but fake sneezing is amazing!

LMNOPeas

  • Figure out other things that the peas could be doing for each letter.
  • Pick one of the peas and write his story, why he chose that job…
  • use this book to help encourage kids to eat real peas? Ok, maybe that’s a stretch….
  • plenty of pictures you can draw with this one. I mean, it’s a green circle! (the peas are really cute though!)

alright, until next time, I’ll be working, homeworking, or just working on this!
Tomorrow we’ll learn a bit about wishes and have another adventure with our favorite Kitty Boy!

until then, feel free to read and write on!
