Yes, no web roundup last week.
I was a bit busy.
More on that later πŸ™‚

A lot of these are classic bookmarks that I’m pulling out and sharing because they’ve been on my bookmark menu for WAY too long. See if you saw these back in the day πŸ™‚

You may not be a first grade teacher, but these word lists will help you if you’re a picture book author.

Speaking of picture books, CANNOT WAIT to meet him again and get this one signed πŸ™‚

Speaking of picture books AGAIN, here’s an oldie but a goodie, a step by step guide to finding good picture books πŸ™‚

For some reason I don’t trust list posts, but I LOVE this one because it’s all about bringing more creativity into your life. I think I’ve done all of these at some point, but it’s good to be reminded πŸ™‚

Instructions for life. Short and simple πŸ™‚

This day is coming up. Will you be making your mark?

Also, here’s some ideas for spending September having fun πŸ™‚

The instagram photo was taken in Madison, WI.
I’ve been here since last Wednesday, playing capoeira, hanging out, and helping get ready for the batizado (graduation).

This school is sort of a sister school to ours.
The head teacher, Sabidinho (Sa-bee-gene-you)
is the highest graduated student of my teacher, Papiba (the I is long and then you’ve got it).

He got his brown cord (one cord away from mestre, or master!) at our batizado this past May.
Since I always make birthday cards for my capoeira friends in Santa Cruz,
I thought I’d make him one.
It was a bit tricky since I was staying with him and his family,
but it worked out great.

The little girl in the picture is his oldest;
he and his wife also have a younger boy.
I got to hang out with them all week, painting, baking, and reading books.

I also ate TONS of good food,
got an accordion lesson,
met members of the Netherlands National Tug of War Team,
danced cha cha,
and ate cheese curds (yes, they DID squeak!)

Overall it has been an AWESOME trip.
It’s really fun to meet more people in my “tribe.”
I know we call the writing community a tribe,
and my capoeira family is just like that.
You won’t find a nicer bunch of people anywhere, I guarantee you.

I’m heading back today,
and though I’ve been having fun all summer,
I’m looking forward to staying put for a little while πŸ™‚

Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!
