I call my mom at least once a week.
Last time I talked to her, she told me she was going around the house and tacking up cards we made her as kids.
So, Mother’s Day and handmade cards are very important to my mother.
Her favorite?
Probably the one my brother scrawled, in quick writing that says:
Happy Monther’s Day.
It would be a cuter story if he wrote it when he was five,
but he made that card well past the age when you should know how to spell Mother. My Mom loves it though.
So I HAD to make her a card.
And I think this year I’ve settled on the perfect formula for many cards to come.
A personalized, TO THE DAY, count of how many days she’s been my Mom.
Here’s how mine turned out.
You can make one too!
Front:
Inside:
Back flap, with a bit of a splotch, but it’s ok because it proves that it’s handmade:
Envelope, and feel free to write to my mom:
First, find out how many days.
This is easy.
Just go here, plug in some numbers, and TA DA!
Next, get your message on there!
I used ink and a paintbrush,
but you can use whatever you have on hand.
It does NOT need to be fancy.
Your MOM WILL LOVE IT!
Finally, mail it out!
I decorated my envelope too,
but you don’t have to.
There!
Wasn’t that easy!
Won’t you look clever?
I might try to develop these for next year’s Mother’s Day,
and you can bet they are coming around for Father’s Day too 🙂
Cheers!
