Behind the Page: The Sneetches

Note:
This is a behind the scenes look at a coloring page I made for a reward for people who donate to my NaNoWriMo Night of Writing Dangerously fund.

Last week on my lettering blog
I showed you how I laid out this quote.
Today I’m talking about the book that it came from,
THE SNEETCHES AND OTHER STORIES.
I suspect you had a lot of Dr. Seuss read to you as a child,
or read a lot of it to your child,
or even if you don’t have a child,
you HAVE to know who the guy is.

I don’t know why this story has always stuck with me;
it just has.
I bought this book used at a bookstore I worked at in Tennessee.
Occasionally they would get Dr. Seuss books in and if they were in good condition, I’d snatch them up.
They’re expensive to buy new, and, well, I was working at a bookstore, so I had to save money where I could.

I remember when I was little I saw a little movie of the Sneetches.
How crazy they run around to get stars or to clear the stars,
how much money was flying,
how silly it all seemed.

I didn’t like how snotty they were to each other.
I must have identified with it early on,
and I like the message of the book:
Everyone matters, no matter what he or she looks like.

So, let me read it to you!

You can get this coloring sheet and more by donating to my NaNoWriMo fund for the Night of Writing Dangerously. $10 dollars gets you five coloring sheets, while $20 gets you all ten. You can even get a custom coloring sheet if you donate more! Click the link above to find out more about it!

Thanks for reading this behind the scenes!
See you soon with another one!

Bye for now,
KE
