These next three books?
The first is one that I saw on a list of the best books of the year, and when I saw it at the library, I scooped it up super fast! And anything on gardens is something I scoop up fast anyway, but I LOVE this guy! The second is one I remember from childhood. Sometimes I feel like that little boy. Also, I read this second book started out as a 10,000 word story and is now just over 100! That kind of editing is something I envy! And the last was read to me by guy who IS SkippyJon in human form. This book totally reminds me of him!
So the next three books, 26-28 are:
My Garden by Kevin Henkes
The Carrot Seed by Ruth Krauss
and
Skippyjon Jones by Judy Schachner
My garden:
- What would you grow in your garden?
- Would you visit the little girl’s garden? What would your favorite thing, of the thing you wish you could really see?
Carrot seed:
- Talk about what happens after the story. What does the boy do with the carrot?
- Was there ever a time when you were so sure about something and no one else was? How did it turn out?
- Act this one out.
- Plant your own carrot seed and see what happens!!
Skippyjon fun:
- What do you wish you could turn into?
- Talk about bouncing. Do you like bouncing? How does bouncing lead to Skippyjon’s adventure?
- What’s in your closet? Think about an adventure that could come out of there.
- Write up some silly poetry and rhymes like you find in the book.
alright folks, stay tuned for some familiar friends in reading journal tomorrow, as well as a tasty alphabet book!
until next time, read and write on!
