Reveal and perhaps some thankful stories??

Ok, here is the reveal for the poems!
Who wrote what?
Billy wrote the creatively titled poem, I remember.
I wrote Working in the garden,
and Dave wrote a teapot scorned.

AND…a teapot scorned wins! Dave is on a hot streak here, two wins in a row.
The next challenge is going to be Billy Davis based, since his birthday is coming up soon.

Challenge:

Rewrite “Take me out to the ballgame” with Billy Davis in mind.
First line must be: Happy Birthday to Billy.

This way we can give him poems as presents and save money!

I am thinking of bringing back Thankful Thursdays, but in a new form.
I have been listing everything I’ve been thankful for since November now in a real life journal, and am trying to figure out the best way to share it on here.

I think I’m going to collect some little stories here and there and come up with a few posts of thankful stories, just a quick snippet of something I was thankful for, profound or ridiculous.

Example story from this week:

I am thankful for salsa.

Now, normally this would mean the chips and dip kind of salsa. When I hear the word salsa, that’s what I think of first.

So when I heard we were having salsa nights at capoeira to raise money for the batizado, I had visions of lots of chips, maybe cheese, guacamole, and all different kinds of salsas. Maybe even some beans.

I took me a minute to dig myself out of my dream and realize that salsa nights
meant salsa dancing.

SIGH.

I wanted to go the first night but was too tuckered out from a Chadtastic day with my awesome co-worker, Chad.So the second salsa night came up this Tuesday, and I started coming up with excuses.

It’s too late…….
this is kind of true. It starts at 8:30 and goes to midnight! I have to get up for work at 6!
Salsa is too cool….
this is also kind of true. I usually go for more dorky dancing, because that’s where I shine.
It costs three dollars…..
ok this is true but I’m not that cheap!

So I’m cleaning my house and packing things up when I say to myself,
Why not just go? What is the worst that could happen? You can wear something cute and learn salsa. I’m sure all those people who are really good started out not knowing anything!

So I decided to go.
And, NEWSFLASH, it was fun.
People taught me the basics and were REALLY patient.
I learned that you CAN do some kind of dorky moves in salsa and you don’t have to be cool all the time.
And I got to hang out with some fun people.
Oh and I saw the big dipper. The sky was really clear there.

Who knows if I will go next Tuesday….it was kind of late. I use my voice a lot for work and when I don’t get enough sleep, it starts to bother me and I sound like a raspy, kind of scary lady. I’ve had that going on since Wednesday.

But yes, salsa, I am thankful for you, for showing me that you can be cool.
Now, if only they had salsa dancing AND salsa with chips.
Though I suppose that would cost 5 dollars!

until next time, you know you’re going to be eating salsa!
