31 and 32 I had a lot of doghouse?

This first book was one that I picked up because I knew the author, and, after reading it, I knew a lot more about wishes. It really made me think about the kinds of wishes I still make, but also the ones that I made as a child. The second is one of my favorite cats who thinks he’s a dog. This story had me from the start, but when he got wrapped up in a burrito, I was completely sold. (see my drawing below…)

Books 31 and 32 are:
I had a lot of wishes by James Stevenson
and
SkippyJon Jones in the doghouse by Judy Schachner

Wish in the doghouse

Wishes:

  • Talk about the different kinds of wishes and wishes that you have.
  • Talk about something you wished for. Did it happen? Did it end up the way you wanted it?
  • When are the best times to make wishes?

Doghouse:

  • Skippy is just so silly. What is something you have done that is silly?
  • Think of other things that Skippy could fight against, and give it a nickname that is kind of like it but different (The bobblehead is called Bobble-ito…)
  • Write up a little rhyme that skippy and the dogs can sing (inspired by the ones in the book!)
  • Let your kids do a masterpiece on the walls (TAPE PAPER DOWN FIRST, OF COURSE!)

stay tuned for tomorrow, when a collage artist that we met before has another book in the reading journal, and the first book on writing makes its appearance! Exciting!

until next time, read and write on!
