112-115: Hippo happy? Bossmanji.

The first book was recommended to me after I spent a week doing my programs in the library of a school. I love when I’m in the library, because we get to be loud in the library (which normally you aren’t allowed to do), and I get to ask librarians to tell me their favorite books. I worried that I may not get books that I haven’t read, but that was a ridiculous worry. And I get to pass on some books too! This librarian borrowed Zorgamazoo from me (I had it in my car; I am that kind of person who always has at least 10 books in the car…) and she ordered it immediately for the school after reading it! Another great library experience…anyway…more books…

The second book I found while helping out at my library. Like a journal and graphic novel in one, and with a boy at the wheel. I really liked how this book dealt with a lot of issues that kids really face, and didn’t sugarcoat things.

The third book is really funny. I saw it on the Kirkus list and then found it at my library. AND UPDATE: I KNOW OWN A SIGNED COPY!!!!

The last book today is a great movie too. It was fun to see how everything played out in the book.

So, reading journal books 112-115 are:

Hot Hippo by Mwenye Hadithi, illustrated by Adrienne Kennaway
Happyface by Stephen Emond
The boss baby by Marla Frazee
and
Jumanji by Chris Van Allsburg

Hot Hippo. I like how he's coming out of the water. Look! No fish!
Happyface
Bossmanji!

Ok, coming up next:

another great book by that Caldecott guy…
Another adventure with a boy and his monkey,
A little piece trying to find his way,
Thoughts about someday,
and a mysterious stranger.

see you then!
read and write on,
Kathy Ellen
