Thanks to everyone who read and voted!
And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for…
Who wrote what?
Day with Dad at the lake was….ME!
SIS was Billy
and I need a nap! was Dave.
No interviews with the sibs this week…I’m kind of sick!
But here’s the next challenge, and you can play along.
I was thinking a lot about pulling out more memories from childhood and drawing on those. Literally (I’m doing more art!) and for my writing, and thought it would be fun to make that this week’s challenge!
So, here it is:
The poem must start with
“I remember”
and end with “I really miss that.”
in between, 2-8 lines of something that happened during childhood or even last week.
As long as it feels REALLY far away and you really miss it.
And you describe it to make us feel like you are there!
I’m really just putting a limit because Billy can go a little crazy when the poem mood strikes him.
In other news, this poetry bug inspired my DAD to write me a poem for my birthday!
And though it may not be in perfect meter, it is adorable, and says things that I’ve never heard him say, about the day I was born and how he felt.
That’s worth it all, right there.
This weekend I hope to catch up on some artist date posts and a few more things, so the blog should be busy soon! I’ve been getting more mail too, and my sketchbook project book is looking great. I’m going to be moving, but I’m not going to let that stop me.
ALSO
SCBWI conference details are finally up!
I’m not embarrassed at all to say this was my every day until this point:
Me, checking the SCBWI website: “Why aren’t the details up yet?”
I scroll down to the sentence and read it again: “Details will be posted in early April.”
I pull up my calendar on the dashboard and sigh.
“It’s April (fill in the date, from the first until today!”) Isn’t that early April enough for you, SCBWI?”
Thankfully more info is up now, so I can be, as one friend put it, “excited with focus!”
I now know who is going to be there, and can start shopping around for their books.
Really excited for Candace Fleming!
and many more.
Ok, going now.
tonight is a “Stay at home and make some art” day.
I’ve already taken three picture book ideas out of my notebook and made them into word documents.
Now it’s time for some mail art and maybe some watercolor.
Happy Thursday friends!
