Wow the Billy challenge was fun.
As of now, the vote is a tie, between:
Dear Billy….by Billy
and Stomach of Steel/Garbage Gut by Kathy Ellen.
Dave rounds it out wit Operation.
Billy’s real life birthday is tomorrow, so happy early 25 Billy Bro!
Next challenge:
We’re ending April and rolling into May, so why not the old phrase:
April showers brings May flowers?
Must use all those words in the poem somewhere.
Whew!
I hope I have time with all the moving going on, though it is timely and could be good fodder for the poem, so we’ll see. 🙂
Bitty thankful story this week:
I am thankful for three things being connected that I never thought could be.
Here’s what happened.
I was driving home in my car and listening to NPR this past Sunday and heard them talking about the Billboard top 100 songs in Spanish.
And they play this song: “Ai Se eu te pego”
I hear it and I think, “Wait, that’s not spanish…”
and the announcer finishes my sentence… “this song is actually in portuguese.”
The commentator goes on to say that it’s really popular because there’s a very easy dance that goes along with it and it’s really catchy.
Now, anyone else would have probably just said, “Huh. Interesting.”
But here’s the thing about me.
I like and already sing a bit in portuguese because I play capoeira.
I LOVE songs where there’s a dance that goes with it (Cupid Shuffle anyone?)
and I am addicted to catchy music.
So, NATURALLY, I ran home and pulled the song up on youtube.
I wrote down and learned the words,
heard the English translation (which is hilarious, by the way)
and learned the dance.
Then I proceeded to dance the entire night.
When I told someone else about it, I literally said, “It is just so exciting that three things that I like all came together in something so awesome.”
I think they thought I was joking?
But clearly, I’m not.
Hooray for connections and songs that make you want to dance all night long!
Hope everyone’s Thursday is going well!
