Do you have a thankful journal?
I don’t have one REALLY,
but I’ve turned the last line of my 5 year journal
into a place to say what I’m thankful for.
Here’s my September list:
If it needs explaining, I’ll do that π
I am thankful for:
a day to rest (after helping all week for a capoeira Batizado in WI)
a day filled with fun (cake! Music! slacklining! beer!)
a great visit (reflecting on my WI trip)
my book being announced in Publisher’s weekly today (no explanation needed!)
my brain and my ideas (started a few new blogposts and stories)
a way to consume more fruits and veggies (bought an immersion blender)
a handsome man loving me! (one year for BF and me)
kids and having fun with them (watched my friend’s young daughter)
friends as role models for the life I want to live (friends with kids as role models)
class/thing that challenges me (capoeira)
challenges to help me grow (plank and shoulder stretching challenges)
fun times with friends (bday party for a teenage capoeira friend)
the opportunity to earn more money (working for my brother)
sharing food with my neighbors (made apple crisp with ice cream)
indie bookstores! (poetry writing workshop at Bookshop Santa Cruz)
amazing authors at amazing indies (meeting Kelly Light at Hicklebee’s)
feeling better (was getting a sore throat!)
finding things even when I’m not looking (I found my amazing desk that day)
finding this rad desk (see, I love the desk!)
friends and fun times (a house warming party for a former housemate)
my last Sunday before work (back to doing history programs in schools!)
making art (made birthday cards for capo people)
starting to earn money again (back to work!)
relaxing time with friends (an unexpected dinner with old friends and new)
book club (I’m in an adults read YA book club!)
my health (I went to the doctor and got on the healing track!)
having really fun ideas (it involves poetry and balloons, stay tuned!)
connections with cool people (on social media and in real life)
a thank you note from Juice (Juice is a friend who I bought a book for and he made me a rad thank you note!)
playing fun games (at Dave and Buster’s for a work event/fun time!)
I like seeing all those reasons here.
Turns out friends show up quite a bit,
which is good.
Sometimes I feel like I have to hermit myself away to get things done,
but really, I need to spend more time with friends if I’m so happy about it, huh?
What are you thankful for?
Do you ever do this?
I think it’s fun to do every day π
Until next time,
KE
