I like bugs.
I think they’re pretty great.
I’m always saving them if I see them inside,
and I try not to mess with them if they’re outside.
I can’t remember liking or not liking them as a kid,
but if I had read this book, I bet I would have loved them!
Oh, I do remember one bug.
Anty, from Honey I Shrunk the Kids.
He was my hero.

I love the different colors for the verbs. Really helps them stand out!
Love the simplicity of the rhyme and story.
I can see this one really making kids think about all the things they can do!
I love how there’s a story told through the illustrations too.
Such a great pairing of text and illustrations!
The colors are really bright, and the illustrations have great texture and action.
The rhyme helps kids be able to predict what they think the next verb will be. That’s GREAT for reading aloud!
Learns:
Write a book about a certain topic, but put your own fun spin on it.
Verbs are important! Make sure you’re choosing the right ones!
Leave room for the illustrations in your story and trust that the illustrator will do great things with your words. Or if you’re an illustrator, see what else you can bring to the story besides JUST illustrating the words already there.
What did you read this week?
How is Monday going, everyone?
This is going to be a busy week!
Like I said yesterday, I have three authors I’m going to meet/listen to,
but I’ve also got some chili cooking to do!
One of my friends is entering a chili cooking competition, and I volunteered to help
with signs,
cutting onions (I have contacts so they don’t make me cry)
and helping watch her three kids.
It’s going to be so fun!
What’s going on with your week?
See ya tomorrow,
