Free art: Mini airport poems

I fly for work usually once a month,
and always want to find something creative to do in the airports.
Something about that space really triggers creativity for me.
And I think the best thing to add to an airport would be some free art!

I sent a message out on twitter asking for what I should write about,
and got this suggestion back: Hot.
Then I immediately thought, may as well do: Cold.

A list of similar topics or opposites started,
and soon I had my ideas.

Then I just wrote.
How great is it that all you need is a pen or pencil and some paper
so share your ideas with the world?

Of course, I watercolored a spot at the top of these pieces of paper
to kick up the look a notch.

What they looked like all packed up :)
What they looked like all packed up 🙂

Here are the poems;
click open the little thing to take a look at each one.
That way you can pick which one you’d like to find!

Look, a free art poem by Kathy Ellen…I’m sorry it’s blurry. I didn’t realize until I had already given it away 🙁

I’m typing this one so it’s easier to read!

Look

A green mohawk matches her backpack.
A tall boy bent over a tattered paperback.
The man who will seat you at San Jose Joe’s
looks like a Daily Planet Clark Kent,
only more hipster. And he drinks a lot of water.
EVERYONE’S wearing skinny jeans.
People walk carefully around a small Batman,
pacifier in his mouth, not looking where he’s going
but running full speed anyway.
A woman with a feathered mullet
reads her hardback quickly,
her fingers playing with the dust jacket.
People stream out of the gate.
Weary travelers grip and sip smoothies,
desperate for an energy boost.
There are duffle bags, scarves, roller bags,
coats, leggings, and ponytails, but you have
your phone in your hand, tapping away,
and see none of this.

Hope you enjoyed those!
I’ll be back with more free art every now and then 🙂
