Fail! But relatively quick fix!

I was so HAPPY to release
the second podcast of Makers Are Magic today,
and the first one I did an interview on!

I edited it last week,
worked on the shownotes yesterday,
and finished linking everything up EARLY this morning.

I had a great day at work, seeing that my friend Jerry Bennett,
who’s on the podcast with me,
was sharing it a lot.

Then I get home and see a Facebook message.
Posted NINE HOURS before I saw it.

Something was off in the podcast. It wasn’t synced up right.

I freaked out, but tried to figure it out.
It took a few minutes, but I found the problem.
And realized I hadn’t joined any of the segments either.
I had split them (to make cuts) but everything was not put back together.

The result?
There were little lapses in between the cuts, and I completely missed one cut, resulting in about ten minutes of us sort of talking over each other 🙁

I worked hard and got it fixed,
and felt so embarrassed.

I instantly went to:
“Oh my gosh people are gonna think I’m horrible at podcasting and never listen to me again.”

And then just as instantly thought:
“You know what? Better to mess up early in the game. And thank goodness Jerry let me know. And now I DO KNOW, so I won’t make that mistake again.”

Just in case, I made this note.
I’ll make sure it’s around when I’m editing.

The new and improved version (where you can ACTUALLY hear us talking when we are supposed to be!) is at Libsyn and hopefully will be updated in Itunes soon.

Failure means you’re trying.
So, see, I’m trying over here.
And I’m gonna keep going 🙂
