Yay, 4th week of Writer Words Wednesday!
Each Wednesday I’ll share a bit of hand lettering related to writing.
And if the words help you,
you can download them, print them out,
and put them up somewhere where you’ll be reminded/inspired by them.
This week it’s this one, AGAIN from the book Creativity INC, about Pixar.
Seriously I need to do a blogpost about this book!
The line I love the most in this is:
“We don’t get it right on the first pass. And this is how it should be.”
What great permission to write a shitty first draft, right?
It’s about the start,
getting it down,
and then it’s about the reworking,
and I noticed I made reworking into re-working,
but left it because it was a good physical reminder that we don’t get it right on the first pass, but I am still sharing that first pass with you.
What’s harder for you?
Getting the idea down or the reworking?
I feel like it’s the reworking for me at this point,
but maybe it’s because I have more experience just writing ideas out and cranking out first drafts than I do revising.
I need to keep flexing my revision muscle,
which has been getting a good workout these past two years š
Happy Wednesday, everyone!
And seriously, read Creativity INC! š
It’s hard to say. I think every part is hard.
Remind me why I do this again?
I do believe “Creativity, Inc” is waiting on the hold shelf for me at the library!
I actually used to live in Emeryville, and once even got to go see Toy Story 3 before it was released. Sadly, they were very strict about photos, so I didn’t take any.
