I love that I entered the March Madness Poetry Competition!
It’s a TON OF FUN,
with plenty of interactive gadgets.
I LOVE
the live scoreboard where you can see the polls and how long there is left to vote.
I landed in the 5th seed in the Logic division against Jane Yolen, seed 12.<—-see the matchup and vote by clicking!
Yes.
THE Jane Yolen.
She’s in reading journal quite a bit, and she’s an amazing writer and poet and, I’m sure, person.
Here’s our biographies:
I chose the orange figure skating costume for my picture, mostly because it was a small enough file to fit, but also because the orange is AWESOME!
I got my word and immediately remembered a poem I had written way back when (not sure exactly when it was…college?) that involved a competition in a nursing home where the winner got that last scoop of mashed potatoes.
I’m no poet and I know it.
I LOVE to read amazing poetry, where every word is picked for a purpose and reading it aloud just tickles your tongue and tastes good.
But, alas, I think I am too in love with stories to be that patient.
I did try to make it flow and sound good aloud, but secretly I was all about the story.
Here’s page one of my notes on the word, brittle:
Page two will come after the competition…not because I’m trying to hide anything, just because there has to be something to look forward to, right?
Right.
Anyway, head on over and vote and read these great poems!
Thanks again go to Ed DeCaria for coming up with and hosting this competition!
I hope it happens every year and I hope I can do it every year too!
Until next time,
KE
