It’s Monday! What are we reading?

I was a little bit sick this week.
Right in the middle of the week my voice decided to get a bit lost.
And when I have to do presentations for five hours a day, that’s a bit rough.
ANYWAY, what did we read this week is brought to you by:

Mon Reading Button PB to YA
You can see what we’ve been reading here, and what other people have been reading too.
What an awesome way to share books!
Find out more about it here!

My camera decided not to accept the batteries that were charging for it, so just stock pictures.
But rest assured, Singe Singe DID READ!

Longer Letter Later
Longer Letter Later

This one was awesome.
I was at a school this week where I do my programs in the library,
and the librarian TOTALLY remembered me!
And I quote: “I would NEVER forget someone who loves books!”

I always bring her books to look at.
Last year it was Zorgamazoo and she reported it has been a HUGE HIT at the library.
This time I brought Zita the Spacegirl and the Nathan Hale graphic novel.

And she pulled this one off the shelf.
“Do you love letters?” she asked. “You’ll just love this one.”

We finished it in a day!

The Reading Promise
The Reading Promise

Got this one from the library.
An interesting story, and what a promise.
I have friends who read to their children every night.
It’s such an awesome way to spent time with your children.
And, Singe Singe adds, to spend with your sock monkey 🙂

This one and the next one I read with Singe Singe and my friend’s daughter, who is four.

This weekend was a holiday celebration at the Waldorf Teacher Training program school I graduated from.
There were 12 people in my graduating class.
Of those twelve, I’m very close to a few, but closest to one, who lives in Santa Cruz as well.

We were going to carpool up to the celebration (about 2 hours North, in the East Bay)
but I lucked out.
My Friday program was up north, in the town where another one of our classmates lives.
His family loves crafting and books,
so I stayed with them and planned on meeting my friend at the celebration.

The day of I get a text from my friend.
Her car broke down halfway there.
So of course I drive down to get her.
The car gets towed to a nearby repair shop.

The celebration was awesome.
Long and awesome.

But the car wasn’t done by the time we were done.
So we had some time to kill.
ANOTHER one of our classmates (this is the one with the four year old) lives close by the school.

So we went to her house.
At this point, it had been a long day for the four year old.
Her mom and my other friend, also a mom, were having mom talking time.

So I went out to my car (I always travel with picture books)
And got Stars.

The little girl marveled at the illustrations.
On every page she tried to count the stars.
Or guess how many there were.
It was kind of a magical moment.

And then we read this one.
She giggled throughout the whole thing, and loved seeing how the house changed.
I never noticed, but the first and last pages are the same view of the house.
She liked noticing how trees grew taller and, in the case of the lemon and apple trees, grew at all!
She also loved watching each child in each picture, and finding all the pets!

Her Mom turned to me after and said, “Thank you for reading to her. That’s what she needed.”

I, of course, said no problem, and was just sad that my voice didn’t sound as good as it could have.

Reading this weekI have no idea!
It’s the last week of work before vacation…
HOORAY!

Probably more Unshelved comics, maybe a few chapter books…
I have a small trip for work which means I’ll have some time, but I also have to catch up on a few things.

What should we be reading?
What are you reading this week?

Until next time, we’re enthusiastically yours,
KE and SS
