Oh yeah!
28 books this week!
I’m officially back!
(or trying to stay busy…more on that later!)
Pick up Tia Isa Wants a Car if you like to read great stories about families.
Read The Cazuela That The Farm Maiden Stirred if you like learning Spanish and new recipes.
Check out Barnum’s Bones if you love dinosaurs, adventurers, and non-fiction!
Read Flamingos on the Roof if you love silly poetry and awesome paintings.
Pick up How to Babysit a Grandpa if you have children who need to stay with other adults sometimes.
Read George Flies South to the kid in your life who needs a little encouragement.
Check out Little Dog Lost if you like true stories about dogs being rescued!
Take a look at Pablo Neruda, Poet of the People to learn about Pablo’s early days.
Check out Clementine and the Family Meeting if you like spunky third graders!
Read Farm if you want to know what goes on at a farm all year long!
Madeleine’s Christmas is just fun. Paris, Christmas, and Madeline. Need I say more?
Judy Moody tackles the American Revolution. Pretty funny and cute.
Just Ducks is a sweet non-fiction book about..well, what do you think?
So, I sort of went on a Madeline kick here…
The Year I Didn’t Go to School is a true story and so kid friendly you HAVE to read it!
Snowmen at Night. What do they do? Find out in this book!
Big Bad Bunny is a fun story of two stories coming together in a neat way. Yes, I just used neat.
Terrific is about a pessimistic guy and an optimistic parrot and the fun they have.
A Pig Parade is fun. It feels like part of a stand up routine, but kid friendly. It pits imagination vs. realism!
The Little Scarecrow Boy has great illustrations and feels like an instant classic.
Willow is a sweet book about a girl helping her art teacher remember how great art is. Really sweet!
Z is for Moose is a riot that you’ll want to read over and over again.
Creepy Carrots…I feel like I’ve already read this. No, wait, I’ve just seen Peter Brown read it in person, then on video. So this was the first time I got it in my hands…and I loved being able to turn the pages when I wanted to!
The Man Who Walked Between the Towers is pretty amazing, and NOT just because I like walking on a slack line.
Dooby Dooby Moo is cute and fun.
The JellyBeans seems like a fun series. I’ve only read this one, but I think kids would like them.
I’m reading a bunch of books this week on threat of having to return them to the library!
I guess it’s my own fault for picking the popular books that lots of people put on hold!
In other news,
I’m in the March Madness Poetry Tournament again!
I really like competing because I’m not REALLY a poet and it’s a GREAT challenge!
CLick here to vote for the entire round !
Here’s the link to my match up.
Voting goes live tomorrow!
And what am I trying to distract myself from?
I’m querying the AMAZING Andrea Brown Literary Agency,
the hosts of the Big Sur Conference I went to.
YES I sent the query out yesterday.
and YES I know these things take time.
I am prepared to wait.
And by prepared I mean I have many things to do to distract me from thinking about it.
What I didn’t know was how unnaturally nervous I would feel while waiting.
I’ve decided I’m just nervous because I’m so excited.
Ok. Back to patiently waiting!
Which, in this case, means some writing!
I’ll also be reading a lot of chapter books next week,
centering around 2nd and 3rd graders.
So far I’m reading:
More Clementine Books.
A Gooney Bird Book.
Alvin Ho
and Big Nate.
Any other recommendations for chapter books with 2nd and 3rd grade characters?
I’ve already read both Marty McGuire books too.
Can you guess what I’m up to?
Fleshing out one manuscript and starting another one with a 3rd grade chapter book character!
Ok, off to read some more,
until next time, we’re enthusiastically yours,
KE and Singe Singe
OK! I hope you don’t think this is weird…
but I was working on a blog post and I couldn’t quite formulate my thoughts. So I said, as I stared at my inbox…..”hmmmmm….maybe seeing what Kathy has been reading will help me.”
And, it did…You said, ‘I loved being able to turn the pages when I wanted to!’ when you talked about Peter Brown’s book. Those words helped me make sense of the disorganized thoughts in my head. Thanks, Kathy….now I can write my post!!
This week we are still reading anything by Peter H. Reynolds and Chris Van Dusen — read another Mercy Watson book tonight with the boys. We have been reading lots of Halloween books too. My youngest son could celebrate Halloween all year.
Thanks Eric!
No, not weird at all!
I like helping!
Your youngest son is the one who inspired Three Ghost Friends, right?
I think Halloween all year round would be amazing.
I can’t imagine your blog posts being disorganized…you always pack in so much information in a really fun way.
