Remember those goals?

First off, I want to say I’m NOTORIOUS FOR THIS:

Starting a project
AND NOT finishing it.

Apparently it’s a very ARIES thing to do 🙂

I’m getting way better though:
I’ve been doing these projects, but just not TELLING you about them!

I got the idea to have a “Life Hack” every month in 2013.
January was GO TO THE BEACH everyday.

Go to the beach everyday!
Go to the beach everyday!

I am happy to say, that one was accomplished!
(I live four blocks from the Pacific Ocean, so it’s really not THAT much of a stretch!)

And accomplished!
And accomplished!

In the process, I learned how to skateboard, got tanner, and learned how to surf!
What did I do at the beach?
read, surf, write, and watch the waves.

For February, my goal was to READ IN FRENCH everyday.
I had the first Harry Potter book, all ready to go.
(I’m about 60% fluent? in French, better at reading than speaking.)

I’d like to say that this was successful,
but instead it was “Fall off the wagon February.”

Alas, I didn't get far!
Alas, I didn’t get far!

I just didn’t like doing it.
I stuck with it for 7 days, but then decided to concentrate on the writing conference I attended in March.
So I changed it to: DO SOMETHING FOR THE CONFERENCE everyday.

THAT was successful!
And I even have an agent now because of all my hard work!
Have you seen this video?

And March?
March was TYPOGRAPHY  every day.
And that was SUCCESSFUL!

Did it!
Did it!

Here’s the proof:

From a picture book about a rockin' princess, a MG about the Keeper of the Lost Cities, and a card from Trader Joe's.

Yes, I KNOW Trapeese is spelled wrong, but check out Norman the Doorman and you'll get it. Also from a french magazine, a french dictionary (Le Petit Robert) and a middle grade book.

I got ambitious on the last day. I didn't only do ONE alphabet in 3D....

I did TWO alphabets in 3D!
I did TWO alphabets in 3D!

I wrote Paris twice.
And surf once, and surfing once.
Clearly this means I need to go SURFING in PARIS!

As for those other goals..

One small story a day
One small story a day

Here’s how I’m doing on that:

Here's all the little stories I've written (yes, look closely, I use hold slips sometimes!)

This time with the Diplomatico container, where I store all the stories, watching over. It's getting full though; three months worth!

And the other one?

Draw a moment from my life everyday!
Draw a moment from my life everyday!

Can’t show you ALL of them, but I’ve been busy.
Here’s three spreads:

Featuring some scenes from tough mudder, some skateboards, the life is good guy, a lot of food, and a picture of my brother and I. February 7-12th.

Featuring a clean couch, eggs, a dog who got dyed, painting, cornhole, and oranges and ice cream.

So there you have it.
I’ll make little drawings for February and March.
And even one for April.

There were many ideas for April, including:

Eat a fortune cookie every day,
watch a TED talk every day,
and do a handstand every day.

But I ultimately went with
LEARN PORTUGUESE every day.

Why?
Well, eating fortune cookies is too easy.
And TED talks I’m saving for another month.
I practically do handstands every day.

ALSO,
our batizado (graduation ceremony) for capoeira is in May.
So won’t I look and sound cool if I can speak some portuguese?

Yes. The answer is yes!

Ok, that’s all for now.
Just wanted to let you know, the goals are going well.

Until the reading roundup, we’re enthusiastically yours!
KE and SS
