Woop!
Week 18 and 19!
For the record, I started this post last week.
Here’s what I wrote:
And it’s Batizado week.
Translation: Crazy capoeira week.
I’m basically waking up at 5:30,
then working,
teaching classes,
taking classes,
making food for people taking classes,
eating,
then sleeping.
Don’t worry!
I still get in plenty of reading time too!
This week I read an entire series!
(Though I hope more are on their way!)
and most of another one!
(same thing about hoping for more!)
And that’s where I stopped.
I did capture the screenshots that follow, but I stopped writing.
So now, may I introduce you to week 19 Kathy Ellen, who is STILL late, but anyway…
Here’s the “I read most of the series” series.
I love the Greeks, and I Love all the work George O’Connor put into these.
He did his research and has facts in the back that are fun too!
The illustrations feel a little too old for me; maybe I’m just used to picture books?
Read another Big Nate.
I like him.
I didn’t realize this one was going to be just comics though.
And read the first Brixton Brothers series.
I love that there’s stories within stories here.
And the characters are hilarious.
And, C’MON, it’s Mac Barnett.
You can’t go wrong.
So that’s why I read two more:
These were equally awesome and fun.
I really like reading mysteries.
I’m not sure if I could ever write one; I’m really bad at keeping secrets and surprises!
Listened to this one.
I thought it was pretty good.
YA from a boy’s perspective.
A screwed up family life and a growth spurt are a lot to handle for Felton in this book, but I LOVE his voice.
I bet teenage boys would love it!
And then, week 19, which was the week that most of the batizado fell on.
I taught 2 kids classes,
helped about 60 of them get their new cords,
trained with the adults,
helped visitors get fed,
and even got on stage with my teacher’s band to sing in Portuguese.
Oh yeah,
and some stand up and raffle ticket announcing.
Kind of busy but I was still working,
so I had time to read.
I’m almost done a non-fiction adult book (I KNOW! GASP!)
but I managed to read these last week:
I’ve had Stitches on my shelf for a while and I’m debating getting rid of it.
Not that I DON’T LOVE IT,
just that I’m trying to get rid of books that aren’t signed and that I don’t think I’ll re-read often.
Plus, someone would probably be SUPER HAPPY to see this at the local used bookstore.
Cold Hands Warm Heart was from the library, and a great YA novel about organ donation. Yeah, it’s cool.
Breadcrumbs felt really magical.
I love stories about friendships for the MG crowd.
And this one had plenty of literary references too!
Looking forward to more quiet time this weekend,
and maybe catching up on some posts.
And doing more reading at the beach!
What are you all reading?
Until next time,
KE and SS
Good reads this week! My daughter loves Big Nate and I personally want to read Brixton Brothers.
We read lots of books by Adam Rex this week! We loved CHU’S DAY and PSSST!
You’ve got to read the Brixton Brothers…so fun!
I haven’t read either of those books, and I love Adam Rex!
Clearly I need to step it up!
(or my library does?)
