Hey everyone!
I know, a little late to be announcing this, but:
(insert trumpet fanfare here….wait, I think I have a picture…)
31 in 31 is BACK!
What is 31 in 31?
Well, let me just steal the info from last year’s post:
What’s the challenge?
Read 31 different picture books in 31 days.
Yeah, that’s one a day in the month of October.
- Read it aloud.
- Read it to kids.
- Read it to yourself.
- Just read it!
My goal is to try to read picture books that were published in the last few years, but you can read any picture books that you want!
Why?
See this post for more reasons why,
but, basically, I love picture books.
- I’m a picture book writer
- a PiBoIdMo participant,
- and a maniacal picture book reader. (And no, that’s not a bad thing…)
I’m also that person who does not have kids but is ALWAYS excited to
talk to you about a picture book
or even read you one.
How do I participate?
Participating is SO easy.
If you can read, you can do it! (yes, that means kids too!)
Each day I’ll post about the book I read that day and do a little drawing for you!
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS
- follow my blog, and
- comment on the post about what book you read that day.
*admin note: following my blog makes it easier for you, really!
Then your comments are approved instantly. Like magic. So amazing.
Want to tell us how it was?
Even better.
Can’t make it to the blog everyday?
Hey, I understand.
Come to the blog when you can and feel free to comment on days gone by to catch up!
Or don’t catch up. It’s your choice.
And I’m not judging you!
REALLY!
Can I win things?
Yes, each day you comment with a book you read, you will be entered to win prizes!
I think I’m up to 7 or 8 books this year, including some signed ones!
Once I get the final list, I’ll post them here!
Prizes include books, signed books, and perhaps some other fun stuff!
Also, here’s a free prize right here:
Write, Revise, Repeat. Original Linocut print by me!
Click it to make it bigger and printable!
Download this, print it out, keep it around, use it as a mantra…whatever you’d like!
So, are you ready to read and share what you’ve read?
I’m just going to imagine everyone cheering YES! super loud.
Huzzah!
KE and SS
excited!!!! we will be participating.
Sounds like fun, would love to participate!
Sure, I’d love to participate–and I already have a new supply of picture books from the library.
I’ll jump in. My goal is to read 500 by year end, and I’m about 150 books behind schedule right now. This will help for sure!
I never grew up so children’s books are my favorites. This will be so much fun. I love this idea and will definitely participate.
This sounds like fun. I have a stack waiting to be read and this will make the process even more fun! Cheers to motivation!
I’m looking forward to it! I love reading picture books and what a great idea to get us all ready for PiBoIdMo!
I already found an idea for PiBoIdMo, in one of the books I got from the Library.
I’m in!
Just the push I needed as I try to reach my goal of 200 books in 2013. I, too, do not have children, but love picture books.
Yay! I participated last year, too. And since I’m a day ahead of you, I get to start today 🙂
I’m your huckleberry.
Sounds like fun!
What a great idea. I’m in. And included your challenge on mu post about PiBoIdMo. http://loispeterson.blog.com/2013/10/01/prepping-for-picture-book-ideas-month-2013/
Day 1: I read “The Gulps” by Rosemary Wells. I really liked it and Rosemary handled a delicate subject very well. Said what needed to be said without hitting you in the face with it.
I’m in! I also LOVE picture books, and this will give me
permission to read one every day! 😀 Looking forward to it.
Thanks!
Day 2: I’ve been reading “Jam and Honey” by Melita Morales. It’s written in rhyme, but the story line was clever, so think that’s what sold it.
Started off (a tad late) with a great favorite. Munsch and Martchenko’s “Thomas’Snowsuit.” HILARIOUS.
I’m participating! Three days late but I will read three
today to catch up!
Today’s choice: Once I Ate a Pie by MacLachlan and Charest. True ‘tails’ of beloved and funny dogs.
Hi
I have just found this 31/31 challenge and would love to join. A bit late but I can catch up??? If thats okay?
