Friday 5: Five books I just learned about that I’m excited about

Friday 5So, last night I was at Hicklebee’s.
They have previews for preschool and general audiences.
Valerie Lewis book talks PLENTY of books,
you get a list of all books discussed,
and sometimes you can win a prize!

Last night was the preschool preview,
which I’ve never been to (which is crazy because she features TONS of picture books!)

Anywho, I heard about A LOT of books that I’m excited to read!

Here are five books I’m excited about:

Julia's House for Lost Creatures
Julia’s House for Lost Creatures

1. Julia’s House for Lost Creatures by Ben Hatke
Ok, I can’t really call this one that I JUST learned about since I’m a HUGE Zita fan,
but I’m still super excited about it.
I LOVE his illustration style; his characters really draw me in!
And this one seems so fun: Julia opens her house up to lost creatures, and suddenly she’s got mythical creatures left and right moving in. Things aren’t quiet anymore, but how do you manage so many creatures? This one looks SO FUN!

Pig and Small

2. Pig and Small by Alex Latimer
Pig meets a friend, bug, but one is big and one is small. They try to do things for each other, but it’s difficult! We only saw the first bits of this book, but it looks awesome! I’ll have to read it to find out what happens I guess! It’s really funny though, especially how they end up meeting!

Sebastian and the Balloon

3. Sebastian and the Balloon by Philip Stead.
I love anything those Steads do.
Their art, their stories, everything.
We saw a preview of this, of Sebastian meeting people via a wild balloon ride, helping people out, having a fun adventure. I loved the art and the story!

The Frog who Lost his Underpants

4. The Frog who Lost his Underpants by Julliette Maclver and Cat Chapman
Ok, it’s a frog and underpants and rhyming to boot! In one word: YES! We had this whole one read to us and it was such a delight!

Countablock

5. Countablock by Christopher Franceschelli
This one’s fun. One acorn becomes (turn the page to find out) one oak tree.
It’s a counting and guessing book and it’s this sturdy little block…how I didn’t hear about the Alphabet one they had before this one I don’t know.

Well, there you have it.
Have you heard of any of these books?
Think any would find their way on your shelves?

Happy Friday and enjoy your weekend!
