A Little Free Library Christmas

I have a Little Free Library.
It’s not official,
and you sort of can’t get into it right now.

My library’s in a filing cabinet
that’s being supported by a cheap ikea table
that got wet and is failing.
So the fence in front of my house is not a bit taller than the drawer,
and it won’t open.

So I changed up my plan,
and I think this is more fun:

I’ve wrapped up some books, all kidlit titles,
to drop off in the Little Free Library around the corner from my house.
I also made a little note and some bookmarks.

Here’s the books unwrapped:

And wrapped:

The bookmarks:

And the note:

And the drop, but first, a sketch I did of me holding the books, for a book/letter I’m writing a friend 🙂

What are the books?
Here’s a list in case you couldn’t see them all.

Board Book:
Birthday Monsters by Sandra Boynton
Picture books:
How Rocket Learned to Read by Tad Hills
Paris in the Spring with Picasso by Joan Yolleck and Marjorie Priceman
Brush of the Gods by Lenore Look and Meilo So
Chapter Books:
Lulu and the Duck in the Park by Hilary McKay and Priscilla Lamont
Lulu and the Dog from the Sea by Hilary McKay and Priscilla Lamont
Outrageous Women of the American Frontier
Middle Grade:
The Strange Case of Origami Yoda by Tom Angleberger
Darth Paper Strikes Back by Tom Angleberger
The Secret of the Fortune Wookie by Tom Angleberger
NERDS #1 by Michael Buckley
NERDS #3 by Michael Buckley
Where the Mountain meets the Moon by Grace Lin

Graphic novel:
Sisters ARC by Raina Telgemeier

YA:
Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli

I think I’m going to do this every year.
It was SO MUCH FUN to wrap up the books,
And it looks so cool having their library full.

Wouldn’t it be cool to secretly adopt a Little Free Library and be a supporter?
You can do that if you find one in your neighborhood.
Just every once in a while put a great book in there and maybe a note.
See what happens 🙂

  1. I love this, KE! Way to spread the holiday spirit.

Do you know if there’s a listing somewhere of local Little Free Libraries throughout the United States? I haven’t seen one in Kansas City but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
