46. Old Cricket

I came across this author when I found a workshop that I wanted to do in Santa Barbara. Unfortunately, I don’t live near southern CA, and I have to work pretty much every weekday, so I thought I wouldn’t be able to do it. WRONG! It just so happens that my work, which is based out of Southern CA, has me down there for the week leading up to the retreat weekend, AND I have a half day on Friday, so I will be able to make it! Needless to say I send my check off as fast as I could, and am happily enrolled in my first writing workshop! I’m pretty excited about it, and we’ll see how it goes.

ANYWAY
This is a book by Lisa Wheeler, who will be running the retreat. I took a bunch of her books out of the library. Wait for more to come!

Reading Journal book #46 is:
Old Cricket by Lisa Wheeler, illustrated by Ponder Goembel

Old Cricket!

Old Cricket fun:

  • What makes Old Cricket sound like an old legend, almost like a tale passed down?
  • Think about what would have happened if Old Cricket would have just helped instead of made excuses!
  • Think about what happens to the bird after he loses Old Cricket.
  • What do you think Old Cricket was like when he was younger?

Coming up next, two more picture books, both by authors that have previously been in reading journal. One of them has been in here A LOT, but it’s a new character of his this time! Ok, no more, don’t want to give too much away. You’ll see soon enough!

until then, read and write on!
