47 and 48: Everything to find a hot dog!

This first book is a picture book by the lady who wrote the book on pictures books that I read earlier. (How many times can I use book in a sentence?) I really liked the rhyme and identified with the girl! The second one is one of the authors that you are probably sick of, but here’s a new friend! I remember meeting this funny bird when I was teaching preschool. We loved his bus book, and, in storage, I have this book, and love it too.

So, Reading Journal books 47  and 48 are:

Everything to spend the night from A to Z by Anne Whitford Paul, pictures by Maggie Smith
and
The pigeon finds a hot dog! by Mo Willems

Everything hotdog!

A to Z ideas:

  • Talk about what you would pack from A to Z! Would you pack some of the same things? Why or why not?
  • What would be the thing that you would be the most upset about leaving at home? Why?
  • Think about the next day, a to z. What would happen?

Hot dog:

  • Think about other things that the pigeon may like to eat.
  • Is sharing hard? Talk about it.
  • Think about what the story would be like from the Duck’s point of view. Try to write it up!

Ok, it’s so rainy here in Santa Cruz! Getting cleaning and some reading done. Watch out for two more picture books tomorrow, two authors who have also been in here, but I don’t think you’ll mind! The books are great!

until next time, buy galoshes if you don’t have them (I’m running around barefoot…they’re going to get wet anyway…) and read and write on!
