First off, I want to say I’m NOTORIOUS FOR THIS:
Starting a project
AND NOT finishing it.
Apparently it’s a very ARIES thing to do 🙂
I’m getting way better though:
I’ve been doing these projects, but just not TELLING you about them!
I got the idea to have a “Life Hack” every month in 2013.
January was GO TO THE BEACH everyday.
I am happy to say, that one was accomplished!
(I live four blocks from the Pacific Ocean, so it’s really not THAT much of a stretch!)
In the process, I learned how to skateboard, got tanner, and learned how to surf!
What did I do at the beach?
read, surf, write, and watch the waves.
For February, my goal was to READ IN FRENCH everyday.
I had the first Harry Potter book, all ready to go.
(I’m about 60% fluent? in French, better at reading than speaking.)
I’d like to say that this was successful,
but instead it was “Fall off the wagon February.”
I just didn’t like doing it.
I stuck with it for 7 days, but then decided to concentrate on the writing conference I attended in March.
So I changed it to: DO SOMETHING FOR THE CONFERENCE everyday.
THAT was successful!
And I even have an agent now because of all my hard work!
Have you seen this video?

And March?
March was TYPOGRAPHY every day.
And that was SUCCESSFUL!
Here’s the proof:
I wrote Paris twice.
And surf once, and surfing once.
Clearly this means I need to go SURFING in PARIS!
As for those other goals..
Here’s how I’m doing on that:
And the other one?
Can’t show you ALL of them, but I’ve been busy.
Here’s three spreads:
So there you have it.
I’ll make little drawings for February and March.
And even one for April.
There were many ideas for April, including:
Eat a fortune cookie every day,
watch a TED talk every day,
and do a handstand every day.
But I ultimately went with
LEARN PORTUGUESE every day.
Why?
Well, eating fortune cookies is too easy.
And TED talks I’m saving for another month.
I practically do handstands every day.
ALSO,
our batizado (graduation ceremony) for capoeira is in May.
So won’t I look and sound cool if I can speak some portuguese?
Yes. The answer is yes!
Ok, that’s all for now.
Just wanted to let you know, the goals are going well.
Until the reading roundup, we’re enthusiastically yours!
KE and SS
Busy girl. Busy Monkey. Good Job!
Congratulations on all your successes and your agent, Lara P! Did you submit to her a pb ms or a chapter book?
Wow! You’re doing great! And somehow I think I missed that you got an agent – congratulations!!!! Aries, eh? Me too 🙂 What day?
Congrats on all your accomplishments. Just wanted to add that surfing in Paris might not be as far fetched as you think. There are rivers running through European cities, where, if there is a strong current you may find kids surfing those spots: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S3lHFGfbyI
Kathy…this is awesome!
Love your joyful dance!
I’m so happy for you and excited for you and proud of you!
And I love TED talks also…they are truly inspiring.:)
You Rock! Love the video. Congrats again!!
