What are you going to be for Halloween?
I think Danny and I are going to be Miss Scarlett and Mr. Green
from Clue.
In all my halloweens, I’ve NEVER been anything scary.
Have you?
This book has some scary for your Halloween 🙂

I love the cumulative structure! I’m sure kids will have fun with it too!
It’s sort of a mystery.
The illustrations NEVER feel crowded, even when there’s PLENTY of scary creatures following Melly! They’re playful and not very scary either, so kids will love them!
Melly saying she’s not scared but the actions she takes always give her away.
The language when a new creature is introduced! I think my favorite is the nine rambunctious rats, but wheezy witches, skittish skeletons, and mournful ghosts are great too!

Cumulative structure is so fun, and can make counting books seem really fresh!
Playing with the fact that what character says contradicts what the character does is a great way to bring up that topic to kids. Have you ever said something but done the opposite? How do you know people mean what they say?
Frights can be fun!
Halloween seems like it’s coming fast!
I’ve seen so many cute costume ideas out there on the web,
but we’re trying to make something that’s easy
and doable with things we already have.
How about you?
And what did you read today?
We have a Halloween party this weekend. My wife and I are going as Superman and Superwoman!
